With the dawn of a new era of internet which set out a new horizon in the category of communication, business communities didn’t hold back themselves from seizing this new tool and view it as an opportunity to either make internet a part of their business or start a new one with internet being its soul. Thus it led to the birth of search engines. And Google was one of the earliest players in this search engine business race.

But did the evolution of search engines like yahoo, Google stopped the new web tool businesses completely? Well not exactly as the search engines led to more innovative ideas and the development of business web directories was the result of those innovative ideas. But what exactly is a business web directory? A business web directory in general is a compilation of sponsored links by advertisers. Non profitable web directories consist of panels managed by humans who review websites and their content to include their website link into their directory. These directories provide these quick links to masses that are in looking for something that the advertiser has advertised through those links.

Off late though free web directory like Jasmine directory, Max directory have come into existence, the Yahoo directory is perhaps the oldest web directory in service till date. Directories such this, have been a key tool of business for this search engine ‘Giant’. The famous DMOZ directory is also a fair example of the task that the web directories are doing these days.

With web directory becoming a common advertising tool these days, link building is no more a hurdle for any website if their content is suitable and informative in any manner.
